Traffic Blocked On Somerset/Cambridge Rd
[Updated] Traffic is blocked this morning [May 15] at the junction of Somerset Road and Cambridge Road in Sandys parish due to a two vehicle collision.
At 11.30am a police spokesperson said, “Motorists are advised that the junction of Somerset Road and Cambridge Road in Sandys parish is currently blocked due to a two vehicle collision.
“There are limited details at this time; however traffic traveling in the area is advised to take an alternate route if possible. A further update will be provided when more information regarding this collision is available.”
Update 5.03pm: A police spokesperson said, “Around 11am on Wednesday, May 15th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported two vehicle collision at the junction of Somerset Road and Cambridge Road in Sandys parish.
“It appears that two male visitors on a rental cycle being ridden along Somerset Road were involved in a collision with a taxi being driven along the same road.
“The rental cycle’s pillion passenger was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.
“At last check the victim, a 49 year old Chinese national, was being medically assessed. His injuries did not appear to be life threatening. There were no other injuries reported.
“Traffic was temporarily diverted away from the scene but traffic flow in the area has since returned to normal. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing.”
