St George Police Station Re-Opens After Repairs
The repairs to the St. George’s Police Station have been completed and the station was re-opened as of Wednesday [June 5]. The station will be in operation from 8am – 8pm Monday – Thursday, and from 8am – midnight on weekends.
Chief Inspector Tracy Adams, Eastern Area Commander, said: “The Bermuda Police Service is pleased to announce that the repairs to the St. George’s Police Station have been completed and that officers resumed their normal activities in the station as of Wednesday June 5th 2013.
“Station Duty Officers (SDOs) and officers from the Community Action Team will operate the station from 8:00am to 8:00pm Monday through Thursday and 8:00am to midnight on weekends. Additional opening hours will be established during holiday weekends and other busy periods.
“The Bermuda Police Service would like to remind the public that Southside Police Station remains the primary police station for the island’s east end. Anyone in need of police assistance who finds the St. George’s Police Station closed should use the telephone located outside the main door to connect directly to Southside Police Station.
“The Bermuda Police Service takes this opportunity to thank the people of St. George’s for their patience during the period the station was under repair. We are pleased to have our Community Action Team back in the Town, along with our St. George’s Patrol Officer, PC Litanya Smith,” concluded Inspector Adams.
The station closed in September 2012, and at that time it was stated the “restoration is anticipated to take six weeks to complete.” While the station was closed, policing operations for the East End continued from the Southside Police Station.
One of the points in the One Bermuda Alliance’s election platform said: “Reopen the St. George’s police station on a full-time basis, staffed and adequately equipped to manage the safety and community needs of the Town.”
GOOD!..Well Done to former Mayor Kenny Bascombe and the UBP for getting this station re opened.
The plp were always full of fake promises to get this re opened.
What an idiot, if you know anything about government projects and did ya damn research. you would see the wheels were well in motion and this project was approved under the P.L.P
I don’t like many things P.L.P did but people like u that don’t give credit were it is due is dangerous and hopefully your grown enough to apologize.
When I take slugs at folk and I am found to be in-correct, I have testicular strength to apologize, lay mans terms so I don’t have to repeat it. I have the balls to own up to being wrong joker
@ Duane P. Santucci ,
WE dont care what you think(ring any bells)
and I dont care what you have to say either!…
the fact is the plp did NOTHING for the people!
i was able to get my Associates from the Bermuda College for 1/2 the cost because of the PLP
@young1…”i was able to get my Associates from the Bermuda College for 1/2 the cost because of the PLP” and you should be thanking every taxpayer you see on the street for that! We’re in debt because of you!!!
Funny how it said it closed for repairs in September. Who was the gov then? You all are so full of it. Take the blinders off.
Your beloved premier just called for independence.
@NBDT =Please close ya trapp! You have no idea what your talking about
@ so,
reads like a disguntled plp/biu member that as usual, has been conned by their own!
Were the cedar beams which were removed years ago for safe keeping returned & reinstalled somewhere in the building to give it some character?
Last heard, they were somewhere in Smiths parish.
no da not, i saw edm dings going up in smoke vone cold vinter,by dem dings kept us varm bye, vish ve had some more ,maybe nex time ve can get um down de butter fill ass state or de tucker property since his long pushin up daisies
very poor attempt at typing Bermudian,my cat could do much better.
The cedar beams where NEVER in the police station, learn your facts. They where in the St.George’s post office & a full police investigation into those allegations was carried out at the time.
Not really a Police Station rather then a part time police outpost, considering most crime happens after dark then what good is a 8 to 8 shift.
Brother Duane, enough already…”Opinions are like as%$s-holes,we-all-have one” Don’t lower your dignity mate
For the people of St. Georges it is a welcome sight that the station is now open. I don’t know what the tourists must have thought when not only were they seeing many of the shops closed but the Police Station also; a sorry sight indeed. I hope that this beautiful historical little town sees some economic recovery over the next few years.
this is good news and i remember kenny bascome mentioning this before the election.
what’s up with him?
@Dwayne, ya the only idiot around here! GO play with ya happy stick ya dreamer!!
i think the Police Station should be at No 1 Gate instead of …whatever that place is thats already there…any 911 calls or crimes that get called in from St.George or St.Davids can be swiftly contained at the round a bout. And it does need to be in operation 24/7…it is not a business with business hours…criminals do not work on a schedule…but what do i know…
