Two Men Arrested After Woman Was Robbed
At approximately 5.15am this morning [June 4] a woman was robbed of her handbag near the Arboretum Park area in Devonshire and after a search of the area, police have arrested two men in connection with the incident.
A police media spokesperson said: “Around 5:15am Tuesday, June 4th police on mobile patrol along Montpelier Road in Devonshire encountered two men running through the area that disappeared into the Arboretum.
“It was then ascertained that a robbery had taken place nearby where two males took a handbag from a woman and made good their escape on foot. The female victim was not injured.
“The Arboretum was immediately surrounded and a search for the suspects commenced. A 31 year old Pembroke man was initially arrested in the surrounding area and a 16 year old Pembroke male was subsequently arrested at the Arboretum.
“Both suspects were arrested in connection with the reported robbery and remain in police custody pending further inquiries.
“A quantity of personal property was also recovered. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing and any witnesses or anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.”

These are the type of role models we have for our youth. Explains why we are in the pathetic situation we are in. Why was this 16 year old out at that time? On his way to school early to do extra credit? Hello parents!
I agree make an example of that 31 year old and punish him 10X harsher than the 16 year old because he should be a positive role model and not a predator and even if the 16 year old was the aggressor he (tyhe 31 year old) is the one mature enough to stop him.

Montpelier Road is half a klick from Police Headquarters. Not the most practical area to commit a crime. Cops would be all over it like brown on rice in no time; case in point.

On another note, why would she have her handbag with her at that hour in the morning…I don’t know of too many people who carry a handbag during an exercise regime…maybe she should have jsut carried her cellphone and house keys.
No where does it say the woman was out jogging or exercising, she could have been on her way to work. so it looks like you are jumping to conclusion were the female is concerned.

WTFC where she was going. she can go anywhere she likes she’s a grown adult. The fact of the matter is those two Good For Nothings had no dam buisness taking her property. The 16 year old needs help before he be the 31 year old soon recruiting another 16 year old.

Just because they arrested a 16 and 31 year old,that doesn’t mean they committed the offence. They didn’t tell you in the news that the 31 year old was arrested just because he was seen walking on roberts avenue at that hour. Since when is it illegal to be on the streets on really early hours? Obviously they were just out arresting anyone on the streets at the time.
