BSoA Anniversary Art Show Opening On Friday
The Bermuda Society of Arts is celebrating 60 years of art with the 60th Anniversary Show at the society’s galleries in City Hall. The grand opening will be on Friday [July 12] from 5pm to 7 pm.
A spokesperson said, “It is interesting to see the diverse works and the evolution of art in Bermuda. Throughout the years, many artists came from overseas and were inspired by the scenery, architecture and people of Bermuda. Many Bermudian artists painted traditional scenes depicting the history and culture of the island, while others expressed themselves through their art in a political or activist manner.
“Over the years the subject matter was often geared towards selling to tourists, so thousands of paintings were created showing the natural beauty of Bermuda’s landscape, architecture, waters and activities. Examples of all manner of paintings and sculptures are to be seen in ‘The People’s Gallery’ until August 6. Everyone is welcome.”
