“Reimagined Pasts For A Liberated Future” Panel
The Bermuda National Gallery will host a panel featuring 2026 Bermuda Biennial artists Omar Dill, Afnan Farooqui, Chyna Talbot and Jahbarri A. Wilson, who will explore how “art can illuminate a path towards reconciliation, decolonization and equity.”
A spokesperson said, “The stories we tell about our past have power in shaping our future. 2026 Bermuda Biennial Artists Omar Dill, Afnan Farooqui, Chyna Talbot and Jahbarri A. Wilson use art as a way to shed light on unspoken, erased and reimagined pasts. Through this, they highlight the path towards a liberated future.
“In this panel, the artists will discuss the inspiration for their pieces, how their artworks speak to the marginalization of women and people of colour, and how art can illuminate a path towards reconciliation, decolonization and equity.
“The 2026 Bermuda Biennial, Siren Songs is currently on display at the Bermuda National Gallery. Co-curated by Akili Tommasino, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Dr Julie Crooks, Curator of Arts of Global Africa and the Diaspora at the Art Gallery of Ontario, the exhibition presents new works by 34 Bermudian and Bermuda-based artists.
