Retirement Reception: Education Commissioner
Recentl, the Ministry of Education held a retirement reception at XL House in Hamilton for the Commissioner of Education, Wendy McDonell, who officially concludes her 14 years of educational service next month
Mrs. McDonell has served as a Staff Development Officer, Senior Education Officer for Schools, Director of Educational Standards and Accountability and as Commissioner of Education since 2009.
Minister Brangman, Mrs. McDonell and Permanent Secretary for Education Warren Jones:
In offering his congratulations, the Minister of Education Nalton Brangman said, “Although, I’ve only worked with Mrs. McDonell for the past six months, I have witnessed first-hand her dedication and commitment to quality student outcomes.
“Our Ministry has made tremendous strides to raise the standard of Bermuda’s public education and Mrs. McDonell has been instrumental in leading the charge to offer our students the same quality of curriculum that more than 50 countries utilize for their instruction and examination. Under her leadership, Bermuda’s public education is now part of the internationally acclaimed Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) IGCSE and A Level qualifications.”
