July 18th: Celebrate Nelson Mandela’s Birthday
Community group Imagine Bermuda is inviting the public to join the world in celebrating Nelson Mandela’s 95th birthday next week.
Glenn Fubler, of Imagine Bermuda said, “Nelson Mandela will be observing his 95th Birthday on Thursday [July 18]. We all know that this Global icon has been undergoing his most critical period of health challenges over the past few weeks.
“While no one knows the short term outcome of this period of crisis, in the spirit of optimism, the President of South Africa has encouraged his nation to prepare to celebrate Madiba on this date.”
With this approach in mind, and given that the United Nations has designated July 18th as “Nelson Mandela Day”, Imagine Bermuda in partnership with other community organizations including CURB, African Diaspora Heritage Trail [ADHT] and Chewstick, are organizing a 95th Birthday Celebration.
An event is being planned to take place during the lunch period of July 18 between 12.30 and 1.30 pm in Hamilton. Venue and further details will be forthcoming. The public is invited to hold the date and look out for further updates.
