Alphas Donate To Boulevard Advocate Program
Yesterday [Aug 21] the Boulevard Community Club was presented with a $500 program donation from Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. as a contribution to BCC’s Community Advocate’s program.
The relationship between the fraternity and the Central Pembroke was forged this spring as the Alphas began preparations for their annual football charity match with the Kappa Alpha PSI fraternity held on June 21st, which raised over $5,000 for various local organizations.
The Boulevard/Central Pembroke Community Advocate Program was established earlier this summer to raise funds and support for several strategic community initiatives launched by the club in celebration of its 40th anniversary in the area.
The fund will create scholarships for GED completion and college enrollment, football programs for youth, and service projects at the Victor School field and community. Interested donors should contact the club at boulevardcclub@gmail.com.
Dr. Lou Matthews, President of the Boulevard Community Club, said: “We want to thank the men of Alpha of Phi Alpha, Inc., for believing in the Boulevard Community Club.
“The interactions with our young men have been powerful and the start of something new for our neighborhood. The funds have helped us to continue to prepare the young men with whom we are committing to developing to leaders and community servants.”
