The Sand Sculpture competition was started 18 years ago by the Institute of Bermuda Architects. Kids and adult teams were both seen working to get their projects started with some having a plan as to what they were going to build, while others were just winging it as they went.

Horseshoe Bay sandcastle competition was a perfect end to August after 10″ rain! The turquoise ocean, and pink sand was amazing!
There was lots of sunshine and lots of smiles…………
Come on Bermuda get out and do these fun, free events!
seriously though…
sometimes it is about the visitor’s on-island experience, the interaction and the story they take come and share with friends and family!
Exactly!
This competition is about tourists mingling with Bermudians and sharing stories and pictures when they get home!
One of the catagories for the sandcastle competition is ‘tourist’ – and the smile on the father and daughter who won was awesome!
Great Bermuda beach, great wonderful weather, great terrific turnout, great friendly family event, great mega media coverage and spectacular sand sculptures! See you all next year and bring your friends and family!
