Fairmont To Hold Clothing/Household Item Drive
This September, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is reaching out and supporting local charitable organisations during the luxury hotel brand’s Community Connections Month.
As part of Fairmont’s new Sustainability Partnership programme and the brand’s ongoing commitment to proactively engage with its local communities, hotel colleagues in participating locations will be rolling up their sleeves and pitching in.
In Bermuda, The Fairmont Hamilton Princess will be holding a clothing and household item drive for The Salvation Army on Monday [Sept 23] from 8am to 6pm at the hotel. Anyone who donates acceptable items will be entered into a raffle to win a two-night stay with dinner at the hotel.
“At Fairmont, we are continually seeking out ways to support and give back to the local community while encouraging our employees to participate,” said Len Czarnecki [pictured], General Manager at The Fairmont Hamilton Princess.
“We chose to work with The Salvation Army as the organisation has been an integral part of the community in Bermuda for more than 100 years. With the economic challenges many in Bermuda are facing, the services of The Salvation Army are more vital than ever in helping to provide even the basic essentials for families in need.”
Items needed for donation include clothing for children and adults and household items like towels, sheets, blankets and curtains. All items need to be clean, folded and in useable condition. The Salvation Army has also requested gently used kitchenware, such as dishes, cutlery, and cooking pots and pans. People also are welcome to donate small electronic items [small enough for one person to carry] as long as they are in working condition.
“We are so grateful to The Fairmont Hamilton Princess for choosing to support The Salvation Army,” said Major Shawn Critch, Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army, Bermuda. “Charities across the island have been impacted by the downtown in the economy while the demands for services have increased. It’s important that the community unites in helping one another.”
Those interested in donating items may drop them off at The Fairmont Hamilton Princess car park between 8am and 6pm on September 23. Colleagues from the hotel will be there to accept donations and distribute raffle tickets.
In addition to the clothing and household goods drive, The Fairmont Hamilton Princess is partnering with The Fairmont Southampton to hold their annual coastal clean-up on Saturday, September 21. The hotels’ Green Teams will be working with Keep Bermuda Beautiful to gather trash on Horseshoe Bay Beach.
This is great. Happy to help, but I hope the raffle has more than one opportunity to win – at least 10 would be good.
of course… why can’t we give from the heart instead of always wanting something in return. sad.
