The Hamilton Princess & Beach Club contributed $6,000 to three local charities as part of its 6th Annual Black History Month Celebration Dinner.

Big Brothers Big Sisters [BBBS], the Adult Education School, and the Women’s Resource Centre, were selected by the hotel’s Black History Month honourees: Dr. Terry-Lynne Emery, Dr. Carika Weldon, and Dr. Malcolm Brock. Each year a portion of the dinner proceeds are matched by the hotel’s owners, the Green family. This year each charity received $2,000, for a total donation of $6,000.

  1. Still waiting for a White History month.

    • Joe Bloggs says:

Have you read any standard works on Bermuda history? They are all about “white history”. And I am a white Bermudian saying that!

      • Question says:

No they aren’t. They’re just about “history”.

        • Joe Bloggs says:

The standard works on Bermuda history are about what was important to the white community at the time of writing. References to Mary Prince or the contributions of other Bermuda slaves are rare.

          • Facts says:

Dude…you’ve been out of school for ages.
Ask a child, you don’t know anything.

          • Question says:

You would be surprised at what is taught these days.

      • Truth says:

        No, they’re not.

Obviously, you haven’t seen a history book in centuries.

  2. There are black history books, still want a White month for history also.
