Bermuda Voted Best Island In Caribbean, Atlantic

October 16, 2013

Bermuda has been voted “Best Island in the Caribbean & Atlantic” for the 11th year according to Condé Nast Traveler’s 26th annual Readers’ Choice Awards, ranking the best cities, islands, cruise lines, airlines, hotels, and resorts in the world.

“We are thrilled to once again be recognised as the top island in the region and thank the readers of Conde Nast Traveler for this tremendous honour,” said Tourism Minister Shawn Crockwell.

“This award demonstrates that the level of service and hospitality the island provides to our visitors is meaningful and appreciated.”

In the survey, one reader touted Bermuda for its “fun blend of British, American, and Caribbean Culture,” while another reader cited “endless activities: historical sites, golf, scooters, superb shopping and dining, museums, gardens, perfumeries and aquariums, too!”

The island’s “lovely scenery,” highlighted by signature “pink sand beaches and aqua blue waters,” was another reason it scored such high marks among visitors.

In addition to Bermuda’s top island honour, several Bermuda resort properties were ranked highly in the Conde Nast Traveler poll including The Reefs, which was again voted the Top Resort in The Atlantic. Other Bermuda properties among the “Top 15 Resorts in The Atlantic” were: Pompano Beach Club [2nd], Rosewood Tucker’s Point [6th], Cambridge Beaches [tied for 8th] and Fairmont Southampton [14th].

The Readers’ Choice Awards are announced in the November issue of Condé Nast Traveler, on newsstands and online now. This year, Condé Nast Traveler had a record-breaking 79,268 readers participate in the survey, close to double the number of survey takers in 2012. These dedicated and discerning travelers cast 1.3 million votes for more than 16,000 properties around the world.

You’re a real hater, aren’t you “Nuffin but da Truth”?

    • Concerned Citizen says:

Nuffin isn’t being a hater. It’s just common sense. Any resident will know that such awards have very little to do with reality. Our arrival numbers and visitor spending are better indicators………not Conde Nast!

    • Nuffin but da Truth says:

      Margaret,
YES!…I hate bull$*** and people like you that write it when they don’t know what or WHO they are running their big mouth off!

  3. Kim Smith says:

Bermuda is not in the Caribbean.

    • liz says:

      It says Caribbean and Atlantic.

    • Concerned Citizen says:

Neither are the Bahamas and Turks, so what’s your point Kim?

    • mixitup says:

Clearly say’s AND Atlantic. Some Bermudians are the only ones who get up tight about this distinction, no one else gives a hoot.

  4. Margaret says:

It says Caribbean, Atlantic. They combine both regions in one category.

Bermuda is beautiful, no doubt about it. You can see the choices here:http://www.cntraveler.com/readers-choice-awards/caribbean/best-islands-caribbean-atlantic.

What I found amusing was the statement: “It offers endless activities.” Maybe I’m just jaded.

Meanwhile kudos to other fabulous islands who made it on various lists:

“Best Island in the Caribbean & Atlantic”

This is a great source of praise for the island, which can only help to induce new people to come visit. Let’s get positive!

  7. Cardine Alice says:

Well done. Conde naste is a big name in publishing. It is great publicity. Let’s not sit on our laurels but aim to improve to remain competitive.

  8. Ottojr says:

Wonderful News. Yes Bermuda is still a great place to visit and live. Some folks would trade places with us in a nano. I remember one lady telling me that Bermuda is one of best places in the World to live IF you have Money and can afford to travel.

    • Toodle-oo says:

Sure. Once they learn how to say ‘Good morning’ and ‘Good afternoon’, learn to keep their mouths shut and enjoy living a life of constantly walking on eggshells every moment of being out in public. Otherwise, with tons of money it’s just a peachy place.

  9. sage says:

    More BS from Conde naste.

  10. Teee says:

Was this fixed? i am just playing. But i just wished they would have included all destinations. I would have voted for The Dominican Republic. (Had they been included)But i guess as a Bermudian you wouldn’t appreciate what others would value about our country. Well Done BDA

  11. Sensitive_Guy says:

I’m sorry but I don’t believe this report not even if you tried to give me the truth “with” money to sell it…. AND I am born and raised here. endless activities…. I think I am missing something.

  12. Punky Outalunch says:

Bermuda is not just the best island in the Atlantic. It is the best island in the local Universe. But always remember: Rabbit Island is the best island in Harrington Sound.
