Hockey: Budgies, Canaries & Spartans Win
This past weekend a number of hockey games took place, with the Budgies, Canaries and Spartans all recording wins.
Women’s A Division: Ravens 1 Budgies 3
Tse Minors gave the Budgies the lead in the lead in the 4th minute when she scored a Field Goal, she doubled the lead in the 13th minute with her second Field Goal of the game. Minors completed her hat-trick with another Field Goal in the 47th minute as the Budgies held a 3 – 0 lead, the Ravens were able to pull a goal back in the 67th minute when Amori Venter scored a Field Goal but the game ended with the Budgie picking up the 3 – 1 win.
Women’s B Division: Bluebirds 2 Budgies 2
The Budgies went in front in the 20th minute when Azari Thomas scored from a Penalty Corner, Tse Minors doubled the Budgies lead two minutes later when she scored from a Penalty Corner, but the Bluebirds would pull a goal back in the 37th minute when Kris Soares scored a Field Goal and then in the 50th minute the Bluebirds would draw level when Jo-Ann Smith scored a Field Goal as the two teams shared the points.
Women’s B Division: Canaries 2 Longtails 0
The Canaries took the lead in the 36th minute through a Lauren Faris Field Goal, Claudine Pullen doubled the Canaries lead in the 47th minute when she scored a Field Goal as they defeated the Longtails 2 – 0.
Men’s Division: Spartans 1 Upstarts 0
This evenly match game saw only one goal scored, which came in the 26th minute when a defensive error allowed Spartans’ Richard Minors to go one-on-one with the goal keep on the edge of the D, Minors managed to make his way around the goalkeeper and score into an empty net.
