Warwick Residents Urged To Take Precautions

October 21, 2013

Warwick MP Lawrence Scott said he would like to make residents of Constituency 24 and the greater Warwick Community aware of the most recent warning/alert issued by the Police Constable in the area.

Mr. Scott urged all Warwick residents to, “Please take time to read, pass on and follow the recommendations itemized in the list below passed on to him by the Parish Constable.”

He said, “If you have any, additional questions comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to either of us.”

Mr Scott said the Warwick Parish Constable provided the safety tips below:

  • 1. Pack all valuable items in secure locations. We have had large amounts of jewellery and money stolen in the $10,000 region and up.
  • 2. Be mindful of who you allow in your residence and who you let know what’s in your residence. ie delivery companies, persons who install items etc.
  • 3. Do not advertise what you have in your home. Be mindful when buying a safe. Where you buy it from, who sees you buy it and who installs it. Do not put the box at the street
  • 4.Keep the surroundings of the house well lit, check light bulbs as some burglars are loosening them out of there fixtures
  • 5. Communicate, communicate!!
  • 6. Stay Vigilant!!
  • 7. Call in any suspicious activity or odd behaviour to 911 emergency or 295-0011

Earlier this month the Bermuda Police Service advised Warwick residents to “remain vigilant” after two burglaries and one attempted burglary were reported in the parish.
