Rugby Classic Photos: South Africa & USA Win
[Updated with 2nd slideshow] The second day of the Bermuda World Rugby Classic got underway on Monday [Nov 11] at the National Sports Center with a double-header, with France taking on South Africa and then the defending champions Australia matching up against the United States.
Game #1: South Africa Defeat France 15-0
After a scoreless first half, Dave von Hoesslin gave South Africa the 5 – 0 lead and when Percy Montgomery kicked the Conversion as South Africa took a 7 – 0 lead. Montgomery added a Penalty as South Africa went ahead 10 – 0 after 48 minutes and then in the 59th minute South Africa’s 2007 World Cup captain Victor Matfield went over for a try as they collected a 15-0 win over France.

Game #2: USA Defeat Australia 15-12
United States shocked the defending Champions when Mike Harvey went over for a try in the second minute to give them a 5 – 0 lead. Andrew Walker went over for a try to level the score for Australia and when Wade Grintell kicked the conversion, Australia took a 7 – 5 lead after 10 minutes.
Simon Price extended the Australia lead to 12 -5, but the United States would not go quietly as Simon Dogbe went over for a try two minutes into the second half and when Paul Holmes kicked the conversion it brought the United States level at 12-12. In the 53rd minute Holmes kicked a penalty to shock the crowd as the United States eliminated the defending champions Australia 15 – 12.
