Caledonian Society To Host Hogmanay Ball
The Scots like to celebrate New Year’s Eve in style, and such is their enthusiasm for the last day of the year that they even have their own word for it: Hogmanay. The Edinburgh Hogmanay Street Party ranks as the biggest New Year’s event in the world.
A spokesperson said, “Luckily, the Caledonian Society of Bermuda have stepped in to save you the plane fare and are bringing a little piece of Scotland to you in Bermuda!
“By popular demand, the Caledonian Society of Bermuda is bringing back their famous Hogmanay Ball for the first time since 2010. This year’s spectacular New Year’s Eve celebration will be held at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess on Tuesday, December 31.
“The event kicks off with a cash bar cocktail reception from 7.30pm, with a rendition of Auld Lang Syne at 8.00pm, midnight in Scotland. Attendees will then be seated for a delicious Scottish-themed dinner with wine included. Those attending can also expect party favours, a raffle, champagne at midnight, and DJ King Arthur keeping you on the dance floor until 3.00am.”
Mark Lavery, President of the Caledonian Society in Bermuda said: “I am very pleased to announce the return of our Hogmanay Ball to Bermuda’s holiday calendar this year. I invite everyone – Bermuda’s Scots, or those just looking to party like one, to join us for a true Scottish Hogmanay celebration, and the best New Year’s party on the island.”
“Children are welcome to this family event. Dress code is black tie and tickets are $155 each or $90 for those under 18 years of age, including gratuities, with proceeds to go towards various community charities.”
Tickets can be purchased for individuals, couples, or in table blocks of 10, online at ptix.bm, or by contacting Ian Hind at ihind@cityhall.bm.
