Lumina Introduces The Playbook Program
The Lumina Festival announced the launch of a “free, 10-week financial education program aimed at Black men aged 18 to 45.”
A spokesperson said, “This program – called The Playbook – is generously supported by the Centennial Foundation and designed to strengthen financial literacy, investing knowledge, budgeting skills, and overall well-being.
“The Playbook will run weekly starting on Monday, April 20, 2026, with the location alternating between Warwick Workmen’s Club on Mondays, Southampton Rangers Sports Club on Tuesdays, and North Village Community Club on Wednesdays. From 6 to 8:30 p.m., participants will attend a one-hour investing session led by full-time professional trader Mandela Fubler followed by a second hour-long session of either budgeting and personal finance instruction from qualified accountant Sylvia Taylor and holistic wellness guidance led by fitness trainer Cervio Cox. This integrated approach intends to address the link between financial stability, discipline, health, and confidence, particularly for young men navigating economic pressure, family responsibilities, and key life transitions.”
CEO and Founder of The Lumina Festival Zach Wilson stated, “Our mission at Lumina Festival is to bridge the gap between financial literacy, culture, and community. Bermuda is considered one of the wealthiest countries on paper, yet our young, Black men are the ones most often impacted by the economic, social, and cultural challenges we’ve been facing as a country. That’s why we created The Playbook as our first step to building year-round impact. We recognise that you can’t just build wealth without being taught how, and the financial moves you make between the ages of 18 to 45 can make or break your financial future. If you know a Black man who wants to elevate their skillset and expand their financial knowledge, then this program is for them.”
CEO of Signature FX Mandela Fubler who will be leading the investment workshop said, “Financial literacy shouldn’t be a privilege. I’ve spent more than 20 years learning and building my understanding of how global financial markets operate. I realized most people around me never had access to that knowledge — not because they couldn’t handle it, but because no one made it accessible to them. I wanted to change that.”
About his course, The Trading Floor, Mr. Fubler added, “The program will cover core topics including how financial markets function, the basics of stocks and commodities, the correlations between different assets, and understanding risk — all delivered in a way that’s user friendly, and approachable regardless of experience level. I want people to open their first brokerage account, understand what their pension is actually invested in, and go home, sit down around the dinner table, and have real conversations with your families about building generational wealth.
“When a community becomes financially literate, everything improves — people make better decisions about spending, taking on debt, mortgages, and ask the tough questions about what are the best investments for our families. This will break the cycle of confusion around money, and ultimately bring us all financial freedom.”
Qualified accountant and instructor of Budgeting 101 Syliva Taylor added, “Everyone should have access to clear, practical information that empowers them to build stronger financial habits and improve their overall financial well-being. Attendees will find the material practical and easy to incorporate into their day-to-day lifestyle.”
Cervio Cox who will spearheading the holistic wellness component of the program, Built Different, said, “At last year’s Lumina Festival, I had the privilege of working with the keynote speaker 19 Keys at my facility TNT Athletics. Getting to add a fitness and wellness component to this upcoming event is a true honor. I do not doubt that this event will empower our black men and will introduce or reintroduce each of them to the possibilities within reach. It is my hope that the momentum continues long after this event.”
Mr. Wilson added, “We’re proud to be able to deliver this program alongside institutions that have long served as pillars in our community. Thank you to Rangers Sports Club, North Village Community Club, and Warwick Workmen’s Club for joining in our mission to build discipline, confidence and ownership and helping us directly reach where our young men already are.”
Kian Butterfield, President of Warwick Workman’s Club stated, “Warwick Workmen’s Club is proud to be partnering with The Lumina Festival to host “The Playbook” Financial Literacy course. We believe the course is a great opportunity for young men to gain knowledge needed to navigate today’s world. Warwick Workmen’s Club has always been an advocate for growth and empowerment of the community and this is a perfect way to help ensure the success of program.”
A spokesperson added, “There are 45 total spots in the program, with 15 seats available at each participating club. Those interested in joining this program should sign up as soon as possible by completing a registration form on luminafest.com/playbook.
