Football: Shield, Friendship Quarter Final Results

A number of football games took place across the island this weekend, with the Shield and Friendship Guarter Finals taking place.

Shield Quarter-Finals: Paget Lions 0 – Boulevard Blazers 4

At the Southampton Oval, Dunn-ya Taylor gave visiting Boulevard Blazers a 1 – 0 lead over the Paget Lions in the 30th minute, Taylor doubled the lead in the 41st minute just as the rain began. The second half started in a downpour but it could not stop the Boulevard Blazers from scoring a third as Aaron Foggo put his name on the score sheet, Taylor would not be denied the opportunity from completing his hat-trick as he scored again in the 70th minute in the Boulevard Blazers 4 – 0 win over the Paget Lions.

Shield Quarter-Finals: Robin Hood 1 Devonshire Colts 2

At the BAA Field, league leaders Robin Hood would be knocked out going down 2 – 1 to second place Devonshire Colts. Terry Foote and Carlos Trott scored a goal each for the Devonshire Colts, while Miles Brewer scored the lone goal for Robin Hood.

Shield Quarter-Finals: Somerset Eagles 4 Ireland Rangers 3

It took seven goals to decide a winner at the Somerset Cricket Club as the Somerset Eagles edged Ireland Rangers 4 – 3. Brendan Hunt gave Ireland Rangers the lead in the 4th minute, Marcus Simmons equalized for the Somerset Eagles three minutes later, Tristan Smith put the Somerset Eagles ahead in the 16th minute only to have Jessie Mills equalize for Ireland Rangers in the 38th minute. In the 54th minute Mills put Ireland Rangers back in front for the second time in the game, only to have Kanhai Fray equalize for Somerset Eagles five minutes later. The winner came in the 70th minute as Anwar Telford scored for the Somerset Eagles to advance.

Shield Quarter-Finals: St. George’s Colts 1 – BAA 2

At the St. John’s Field, David Signor gave the St. George’s Colts the lead in the 35th minute, Jalen Harvey equalized for BAA in the 64th minute converting from the penalty spot.

Friendship Quarter-Finals: Somerset Trojans 1 – PHC Zebras 0

At the Somerset Cricket Club, a fifth minute strike from Jaz Ratteray was enough to earn the Somerset Trojans a place in the Semi-Finals with a 1 – 0 win over the PHC Zebras.

Friendship Quarter-Finals: Dandy Town Hornets 0 – Devonshire Cougars 1

At the St. John’s Field, a lone goal in the 29th minute from Domico Coddington gave the Devonshire Cougars a 1 – 0 win over the Dandy Town Hornets.

Friendship Quarter-Finals: Southampton Rangers 1 – Hamilton Parish 3

At the Southampton Oval, Shakeem Albouy gave visiting Hamilton Parish the lead in the 20th minute, Janeiro Tucker equalized for Southampton Rangers in the 57th minute, but Albouy put Hamilton Parish back in front in the 69th minute and when Donovan Thompson scored in the 82 minute for Hamilton Parish it made the final score 3 – 1.

Friendship Quarter-Finals: Flanagan’s Onion’s 1 – St. David’s 5

Kevin Ronaldson gave the Flanagan’s Onion’s a 1 – 0 lead in the first half, however St. David’s scored five times in the second half to earn a 5 – 1 win and earn a berth into the Semi-Final draw. Allan Douglas Jr. led the charge with two goals while Shakil Robinson, Aaron Crockwell and an own goal completed the scoring for St. David’s.
