Minister Dunkley Visits Regiment Recruit Camp
Minister of National Security Michael Dunkley today [Jan 13] visited Warwick Camp where the 2014 Recruit Camp is underway.
The Minister was met and escorted by Lt. Col. Michael E. Foster-Brown and Major Larenzo Ratteray, C Company commander, who is in overall command of this year’s Camp.
Minister Dunkley said, “After just a day of training, the soldiers were mostly positive in their outlook and approaching their two week Camp focused on learning and doing their best. I had the opportunity to speak with several young men and women, some of whom were among the forty volunteers.
“This experience is already being valued by them and the record number of volunteers demonstrates that we can safely eliminate conscription as promised.”
And reflecting on the Opposition’s recent comments, Minister Dunkley said, “There really is no debate to be had around this issue.
“Both Parties have committed to it and as I have consistently said, once we have the Report of the Security & Defence Review Committee in hand and in consultation with the Commanding Officer, conscription will be removed from our books.
“The only relevant timetable is one which will ensure we have a strong Regiment as required for Bermuda’s needs.”
Minister Dunkley was joined by Acting Governor Ginny Ferson, MP Nandi Outerbridge, Junior Minister of National Security Senator Jeffrey Baron and Junior Minister of Home Affairs MP Sylvan Richards.
Baron and Dunkley.
Not a good picture, barf.
Interesting comment.
Indeed, very interesting comment !!
What an embarrassment to this Island.
That’s the word.
anyone else sees the kid holding up the gun finger in the 2nd picture?
Idiot!! Get your eyes checked!! He is hold a cup!! SMDH!!
Not a kid a young man.
If you are refering to the second young man above in uniform facing the camera he is holding a plastic cup and is not showing a “gun finger”. Get rid of the negativity Bermuda.
Really hard to tell what he is doing.
Lets be honest all of us who have been to the regiment enjoyed the trips and the pay but forgot what we learned a few years out, so if it is not going to be a dedicated regiment it literally is a perpetual waste of money, annual hole in the water bucket.
Tell us about the overseas trips.
Had fun. Went to strip club. Thats about it.
Yeah that’s the best place to develop character.
its really great to see the REAL LEADER OF BERMUDA…. THE MILKMAN
