Truck Gets Stuck On Burnaby/Church St Junction

January 7, 2014

Earlier this morning [Jan 7] a a truck managed to land on top of the divider at the junction of Burnaby Street in Hamilton, with it appearing it happened while the driver was making a right turn from Church Street. The truck’s positioning created some temporary traffic delays, until it was moved a short while after.

How u get a truck stuck on top of a divider??? Be careful drivers……whats the rush (as I remind myself of the same thing)

    • Puta says:

Why in such a hurry?! United game aint for another hour…

    • This is not the first time a truck has gone up and hit the divider, and this is also a frequent accident spot. I have watched on several occasions were people coming down Reid street and turning right onto Burnaby, going toward spot had to give gas making the turn, because of the impatient fools coming out of the stop sign on Burnaby, going toward front street or turning onto Reid street.

The reason being in these cases is most time the person coming out of Burnaby onto Reid Street is to busy looking left up Reid street to see what other traffic is coming down Reid street, instead of concentrating on the turning vehicle right in front of them, then they come out of the stop sign and hit the vehicle that is still turning.so the key is slow the hell down and pay attention

      • State the Obvious says:

Ah, right. So what you’re saying is, it’s someone else’s fault?

  2. Joonya says:

  4. Bozey says:

Don’t know if it is the same truck/driver, but some of this company’s employees are always on their phones while driving!! One looked at me once like I had 3 heads when I yelled at him to stop – almost knocking me down!!

    • Positive says:

Seen it for myself there is one particular driver always on the cell phone.

      • Really?? says:

I thought the same thing, bet you he was talking on his cel

  5. Oh Ya says:

  6. Pastor Syl says:

  13. KCAJ says:

AND THE BRIGHT YELLOW PILLARS CLAIM ANOTHER VICTIM…. I WORK RIGHT ON THE STREET AND SEE DRIVER HIT EITHER PILLAR MULTIPLE TIMES A YEAR.

TWO WORDS NEED TO COME INTO A AFFECT HERE: DUE CARE!

    • inna says:

      no need to yell!

      • SD says:

I always laugh when I read comments like yours. What difference does it make if somebody uses all caps? Years ago, somebody decided that this meant that the person is yelling, but to me it just means that they are using all caps!!! How they construct their sentences doesn’t take away from their point!!!
My personal pet peeve is people that start a sentence without using a capital letter…as you did. However, I don’t feel the need to make a point of it whenever I see it!!!

        • PBanks says:

My pet peeve happens to be people who use multiple exclamation marks, so let the circle of complaints continue…

        • State the Obvious says:

You just did make a point of it.

      • KCAJ IS NOT YELLING JUST USING THEIR OUTSIDE VOICE! don’t you know there is a difference in voices and most school children are told to use their inside voice when in the classroom, which is crock and foolishness in the highest degree, BUT BECAUSE WE ARE OUT HERE IN SOCIAL MEDIA SURFING THE INTER WAVES WE HAVE TO USE OUR OUTSIDE VOICE, IT IS GOING AROUND DE VIRL YOU KNOW.

  14. Johnboy says:

How far into/up a pole does one need to go before hitting the brakes????

  15. OMG says:

Looks like he was kinda “stuck in traffic”. Cannot imagine the call to his boss.

    • pebblebeach says:

Probably was talking on his cellphone to his boss when the mishap occurred…

  16. NAME says:

it’s ok toolbox he didn’t mean to hurt you

  17. smh says:

The whole reason the UK uses those plastic “Keep Left” signs is because they are lightweight, cheap, cause little damage to vehicles (if hit), and are easily replaced. Why would they go and put a big metal pole in front of it? Kinda defeats the point. LOL only in Bermuda.

    • Burnt bulb says:

      Great observation!

    • Ganja mon says:

Some things done in bermuda were only decided by one person???common sense is not that common.

    • Triangle Drifter says:

Take a look at the placement of half the traffic lights in town. When stopped at the line the light is either almost above your head out of sight of on the opposite side of the intersection on the right placing it behind the vehicle right front roof pillar.

      Only in Bermuda.

    • Sandy Bottom says:

The metal poles are to protect pedestrians who might be standing on the centre island. They need protection from vehicles which would otherwise run right over them. Case in point.

      • Whathesaid says:

Pedestrians shouldnt be on the median, they should be waiting on either side of the road for the light to change…..

    • I bet it woke him up and it will make others readers pay attention at this intersection.

  18. Whistling Frog says:

Corporation needs to set that post in reinforced concrete and now you know a truck can climb up it, make it a bit taller… Like eye level for drivers..

  19. Johnboy says:

Them Duke boys better stick to drivin’ the General. They should have known they wouldn’t make that jump with a truck.

  20. buzz says:

this guy is got some explaining to do,
hopefully he doesnt loose his job

  21. Voter says:

This dude must have been looking off road. Some interesting sights to see as you traverse through the streets of Hamilton.

  22. somuchless says:

Maybe he wanted to ride the pole lol

  23. kerry says:

I saw this happen and the driver was not using his phone. Unfortunately he over steered and took the turn too tight. I understand this happens quite often. Kind of felt sorry for the driver.

    • Just One says:

Yes, this is at least the third time that a four wheeled vehicle has gotten stuck here! Lots of squidly in town methinks!

    • Bozey says:

Happen quite often?? Must be non-drivers!! If doing the speed limit it will not / cannot happen!! You saw no phone cause the crazed driver probably dropped it on impact!! Bet you if the police checked the call log…..well you know the rest!

  24. Scoalsy says:

Probably needs an eye test or DUI test

  25. Old Broad says:

Well, at least he could run into The Spot and grab breakfast and a cuppa. If he could find a window seat, he could keep an eye on things while he waited for help. :-)

  26. Mr. Meoff says:

Check de pole dancer. Short Peter wont be too happy.

  27. Bermyboy says:
