One person was injured after a car crashed overboard on Middle Road in Southampton, the police have confirmed.
A police spokesperson said, “Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, police and other first responders attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision involving a motorcar on Middle Road near the junction with Avocado Lane, Southampton. On arrival officers observed a motorcar had gone through a barrier and was submerged in the water just off the public dock at Jews Bay.
“The vehicle was reportedly being driven in an easterly direction along Middle Road, when it collided with a wooden railing and went over an embankment, before landing in the water below.
“An 18-year-old male was trapped inside. However, Bermuda Fire and Rescue personnel were successfully able to extract him. Three other occupants managed to exit the vehicle on their own.
“The 18-year-old male was subsequently conveyed by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries which were not believed to be serious. It does not appear any of the other occupants were injured.”

Good thing this was not an electric car! Saltwater and batteries are not a good combination.
Parking at Jews Bay is difficult, but this is not an option.
