The Atlanta Flames edged the California Golden Seals 2 – 1, after a scoreless First Period Jeff Loper scored the only goal of the Second Period to give the Atlanta Flames the lead. Brian Flynn doubled the Atlanta Flames lead early in the Third Period, before Shaun Behan pulled a goal back for the California Golden Seals, but time ran out on them looking for the equalizer.
Colorado Rockies 8 Quebec Nordiques 5
The Colorado Rockies got two goals apiece from Chris Merritt and Chris Jackson as they defeated the Quebec Nordiques 8 – 5. Also scoring for the Colorado Rockies was JF Talbot, Adam Mattatall, Ryan Wilson and Jordan Gunter, while Ian Beaudion, JM Tremblay, Jeff Ingelman, Scott Shannon and an own goal made up the Quebec Nordiques goalscorers.

The final game of the night saw the Minnesota North Stars defeat the Toronto Arenas 6 – 3.
The Minnesota North Stars were led to victory by Glen Madore who scored a hat-trick, while Cory Caouette, Brian Keats and Chris Allington all scored a goal each. The Toronto Arenas got single goals from Troy Dort, Shannon Gosse and Cam Poland.
