Women’s Futsal League Weekend Results
The Women’s Futsal League continued inside the Warwick Academy Gymnasium with a triple header which saw a total of 24 goals scored.
Dandy Stars 7 Young Men Social Club Lady Bluebirds 1
In the beginning of the game Dandy Stars found it tough going against a determined Young Men Social Club Lady Bluebirds team. Young Men Social Club Lady Bluebirds surprised their higher ranked opponents when their MVP Zekiah Lewis scored. However, Dandy Stars settled down and started to put their chances away and at half-time they led 4 to 1. They scored 3 more in the second-half to win 7 to 1. Dandy Stars MVP Cleshaunay Darrell-Virgil and Kashintae Fox both scored twice, while Kyla Ramatar, Nia Christopher and Dazarre Place all added a goal each.
PHC Lady Zebras 9 Hamilton Parish 1
The PHC Lady Zebras jumped out to an early lead in the first-half scoring 7 goals to Hamilton Parish’s 1. In the second-half Hamilton Parish played much better to limit the PHC Lady Zebras to just 2 goals. Teiyah Durham, MVP Jessica Furtado and Symira Lowe-Darrell, while Kalay Hollis, Micah Pond and Zahkia Durham all scored one goal each. Asrael Basden scored the lone goal for Hamilton Parish.
Footy Force Stars 4 Somerset Hurricanes 2
In the upset of the season so far, Footy Force came from behind to win convincingly against the Somerset Hurricanes. Somerset Hurricanes was sharper at the start of the game and lead 2 to 1 at half-time behind some fantastic shooting by Shauntae Todd. In the second-half, Coach Aaron Denkins re-organized his players with Cheyra Bell, shutting down Todd and getting balanced scoring from 4 of his players. Footy Force scored 3 goals in the second-half to win the match 4 to 2 and with the win climbed to second place in the League. Charmaine Saltus in goal for Somerset Hurricanes was outstanding making a number of fine saves and Bell was outstanding for Footy Force. Bell, K’Shaela Burch-Waldron, Zahra Gibbons and Leah Smith all scored a goal each for the Footy Force.
