BTC Scholarship Offers Students $20k Per Year

Bermuda Telephone Company Limited is currently accepting applications for its generous Sir John W. Cox Award, marking the 41st year that the scholarship has been offered to Bermuda’s students.

According to the BTC website, “Even future leaders need a hand getting started.

“Since 1983, BTC has been furnishing Bermudian students with financial support that has allowed them to pursue their academic aspirations abroad.

“The Sir John W Cox Scholarship award was established in recognition of one of BTC’s past presidents and directors to acknowledge his 50 years of dedicated service to the organization.

“The scholarship award provides students with financial support of $20,000.00 per annum for a four year period, to be used by Bermudian students to obtain University Degrees or other recognized professional designations. Students of all academic disciplines are encouraged to apply.

“The possibilities are infinite when you possess a solid educational background.”

The most recent recipients of the BTC scholarship are:

  • 2013: Danielle Lightbourn of the University of Worcester
  • 2012: Charlene Place of the University of South Florida
  • 2011: Janae Smith of the University of Tampa
  • 2012: Archer Hill of the Miami University of Ohio
  • 2009: Stephanie Gibson of Emory University
