CPAD Hosts Local Football Finishing School
CP Athletic Development [CPAD] recently hosted a week-long soccer finishing school. The curriculum was designed to focus on first touch, dominating in one-on-one situations, shooting and finishing, decision making, and speed of play.
The school featured Youth Professional Training [YPT], a U.S. based soccer training academy that provides supplemental advanced training programmes to players and has direct access to soccer academies and coaches from top European clubs, including Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, PSV Eindhoven, Real Madrid, and Ajax.
Local coaches, parents, and players attended a PowerPoint presentation outlining a first-hand account of the training regimes at these clubs, followed by on-field demonstrations of the finishing drills. The week wrapped up with the local players competing in a series of competitive games against a visiting YPT team.
Bermuda and U.S. parents traded experiences and laid the groundwork for local players to participate in future European academy training.
Coach Peter Rickards, founder of CP Athletic Development said, “I was extremely pleased with the support of this inaugural event. CP Athletic Development was founded to train, develop, and create opportunities for athletes of all sporting backgrounds.
“This soccer-based curriculum directly exposed local players to academies, coaches, and parents from other jurisdictions, thereby creating relationships that local parents can develop based on the future objectives of their children.”
