The full police statement follows below:

The Bermuda Police Service continues to receive reports of residential burglaries with nine reported in the last 24 hours, six of those occurring in Paget.

The other parishes affected over the same period were Pembroke, Devonshire and Warwick with one reported burglary each.

The specific areas where homes were burgled include:

  • Highwood Lane, Paget
  • Manor Hill, Paget
  • Mission Lane, Paget
  • South Road, Paget (two reported incidents)
  • Stowe Hill, Paget
  • Marsh Folly Road, Pembroke
  • Tee Street, Devonshire
  • Allspice Gardens, Warwick

Residents are urged to immediately report any suspicious activity seen in their neighbourhoods, in particular suspicious individuals and vehicles entering or leaving the area, to the main police telephone number 295-0011.

In addition before leaving their property unattended residents should secure all windows and doors as well as set the alarm system if one is already installed.

Similarly, air conditioning units should be secured and it is recommended that all valuables are kept in a safe or safety deposit box if possible.

Residents are also strongly advised to take pictures of all their valuables and record serial numbers of any electronic goods in their home. In the event that such personal property is stolen and later recovered, these items can be more easily identified.

    • Sad says:

So you automatically figured out these break ins are being done by ” black color” criminals?

You are the most ignorant POS to ever post on this site.

      • Kiskadee says:

They are both white and black and many are school kids who are never punished for their crimes— just a nice liittle chat with them and they continue to break into people’s homes .

      • Citizen Banned says:

  5. Terry says:

Needs to go back to how they are sentenced.
Westgate is a relief, food, criminal bonds, good nights sleep et al.

Make them work and do labor for 8 hours a day with a meal and a cold shower/wash.

There really is no deterrent because it’s better on the ‘inside’.

And yes the economy plays a re part but stealing, robbery et al is not the answer though it prevails.

    Social issues are numerous.

We make it too easy for them.

    Shalom.

    • yello says:

I agree. The system makes it too easy. Not disputing the fact that going to jail is an “easy” thing to deal with. But instead of having them sit in there, why not make them do community service? Maybe even pick up trash, something! Free labour, their giving back, the community benefits.

  6. Suzie Quattro says:

End the practice of giving concurrent sentences.

  7. Triangle Drifter says:

Catch them, pound the livin you know what out of them, then call the police. Whatever little the courts gives after that won’t matter.

  8. BlessYourHeart says:

The worst theives are the ones who go unnoticed. Just seems like distractions to what’s really being stolen from us as a people.

  9. terrible says:

too many drug addicts walking up and down in warwick/paget area. they stealing from their own neighborhoods then go straight ord rd to get their fix. tired of it!

  10. Ruthless says:

And to think………..Police have a suspect but refuse to put up his picture! FYI, they know who they are looking for but won’t tell the people in the neighborhoods who to lookout for! Do you honestly think you will catch him driving around in marked Police cars! Top bosses are dreamers! One down three to go!

    • Toodle-oo says:

A couple in Southampton had their house broken into last week.
Window smashed to gain entry like the then warning stated seemed to be the new thing.

Owner was back home within half an hour with the police.
The police say they knew who did it as it was a just released inmate who had been breaking into places since his release from Westgate.

If they knew who did it , they should have had info on his whereabouts too . I wonder if they promptly went searching for him to see if they could catch him with some of his very fresh new takings ?

      • tricks are for kids says:

How do they KNOW (did they see him) or are they just ASSUMING?…SMH…..If you KNOW then go and get him…….

  11. Mr. Meoff says:

    • Dasher says:

  13. Dog Lover says:

U have a mix breed pop pa, pitbull standard aink that big. But ya, I’ve got a 7O pound pitbull looking dog and that’s enough for who ever thinks about robbing my house while I’m working. I hope d thief comes to our houses lol

    • Come Correct says:

I don’t, I hope they hear him and leave. Cleaning blood out of carpet is like stapling water to a tree.

  14. sml says:

One burglary they kicked the family dog and injured it. Another burglary it was 2 Dobermans in the house and they still broke in. Very sad times.
I have 3 dogs and pray they are a deterrent to these sick people who have no respect for others property. They need to be caught or never let our of prison as nine out of ten times they recommit the same crimes or make them wear an electronic monitor.

    • Boo says:

Dobermans are silent guard dogs, they do not bark. If a dog doesn’t bark people tend to be less afraid of it.

  15. 8 Iron in waiting says:

I prefer vigilante style justice. Catch them and beat them within an inch of their lives. Then tattoo on their forehead in dayglo orange. I am an a*****l I steal from innocent citizens* Iron. Oh yes also do the arab way chop their hand off. Miserable little s***s.

  16. Suspect has been arrested says:

At least one suspect has been arrested.

  17. Sleepin dawg says:

Too true…please consider the threat these fellows are and remember your obligation to protect life and propery, don’t forget to make sure you have a no trespassing sign. Then…and there …they don’t want the consequences….they don’t go there.I don’t play …I am a deal withit right then and there kind of guy…the police can have what is left…this is easily solved catch the bum before he walks in the wrong yard….home???…that is the last place anyone should be without invitation. In my house I have no choice but to consider you a threat to life….co-dependant or not….if you don’t listen…you feel.A strong deterrent is needed.A story of what can happen, co dependants like to familiarise themselves with you , s’why people are so offish with each other…I myself don’t familiarise with strangers ,cordial is safer until I get to know you.Crack and heroin chrystal meth are the contributing causes to the erosion of our standards of living today.I don’t care much for any one feedin a habit to the detriment of how I…my loved ones or friends and neighbors have to live, these people drag us all down to their level of sub-standard living and this is unacceptable.Mercy?….well …that is a faith hope …and charity I will enjoy extending to anyone that comes correct…however…Good Lord is a great deal more merciful than I when it comes to life and property.Get caught…Pray God,not me.

  18. JUNK YARD DOG says:

A MAN was sleeping when he heard a noise in his house .

The MAN got out of bed and waited behind the door of his bedroom till the intruder walked into the bedroom .

The MAN jumped out from behind the door and gave the intruder a severe thrashing.

Then the MAN tied up the intruder and put him out side in the cold for the duration of the night.

The next Morning the MAN went outside and gave the intruder another severe thrashing , then untied the intruder and chased him off the property.

That is what I call a smack on the wrist.
