Red Cross Bermuda To Close Typhoon Accounts

April 16, 2014

Bermuda Red Cross is advising the community that it will be closing its Typhoon Haiyan Disaster Appeal accounts on April 30, 2014.

A spokesperson said, “In December, $305,000 was sent to British Red Cross for distribution and we now have an additional $60,000 to send after the closure of the accounts.

“As we near the 6-month milestone, the British Red Cross has announced that there are plans over the next two and half years to rebuild homes, boost people’s health and incomes, and repair schools in the province of Ilo Ilo.”

“Through the British Red Cross, more than £17 million has been raised for the relief effort.

“If anyone has any additional funds that they would like to have sent to assist the survivors of the devastating typhoon that hit Philippines in November 2013, they can donate into the disaster account at Bank of N.T. Butterfield, account number 20 006 060 663859 200, before April 30.

“At this time, Bermuda Red Cross would like to thank the community for the tremendous support they showed to support those less fortunate through their creative fundraising efforts.”
