BASA Short Course Swimming Records Updated
The Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association have updated their Short Course Meter Records, following the Best of BEST 3rd Swim Meet held here in Bermuda, the Mallards Spring Splash held in Canada and the Mallards Swim team Class II Time Trial Meet held in Canada.
Best of BEST 3rd Meet
Jack Harvey is now the 9 and 10 Boys 50m Butterfly recored holder after touching the wall in a time of 35.62, breaking Mitchell Gariepy’s record of 36.11 set on May 8th, 2010
Emma Harvey set a new 11 and 12 Girls 200m Individual Medley record with a time of 2:34.02, breaking her own record of 2:34.03 set on March 23rd, 2014
Jesse Washington’s time during the 13 and 14 Boys 100m Butterfly of 59.86 is a new record, breaking his own record of 1:01.00 set on May 19th, 2013.
Mallards Spring Splash – Markham, Ontario, Canada
Elijah Daley is the new 8 & Under Boys 200m Freestyle record holder touching the wall in a time of 3:06.53, breaking Mitchell Gariepy’s record of 3:08.45 set on June 6th, 2008
Ethan Daley set four new 11 and 12 Boys records, his first came in the 100m Backstroke, where he clocked 1:08.82, breaking Jesse Washington’s record of 1:10.10 set on May 5th, 2012, then he set a new 100m Butterfly record of 1:08.42, breaking Washington’s record of 1:09.46 set on June 12th, 2011.
Daley next set a new 200m Butterfly record of 2:38.44, breaking Washington’s record of 2:41.44 set on May 29th, 2011 and then he closed out the event with a time of 5:26.43 during the 400m Individual Medley, this time broke a record that had stood for 24 years set by Stephen Fahy who was clocked at 5:43.78 back on July 1st, 1990
Mallards Swim Team Class II Time Trial Meet – Markham, Ontario, Canada
Ethan Daley was back at it again, this time in the 11 and 12 Boys 100m Individual Medley were he touched the wall in 1:09.03, breaking Matthew Brewer’s record of 1:11.79 set on August 1st, 1983, this record was the oldest remaining record in Short Course Meters and had previously stood for 31 years.
