BUEI To Host Marine Lecture By William Gillies

The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute [BUEI] is getting set to present a lecture by William B. Gillies on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 7.30pm, giving attendees the ability to learn more about Bermuda’s unique maritime history.

Part of BUEI’s Citizen Scientist Lecture Series, the presentation will feature Mr. Gillies, a retired wreck diver and restorer of maritime artifacts, at its helm.

A spokesperson said, “Join us at BUEI on Thursday, May 15 for a presentation by William B. Gillies, retired wreck diver and restorer of maritime artifacts. Bill is internationally recognized as an expert in the field of rebuilding fragile historic glass artifacts. Many of Bill’s restored pieces are on display at BUEI.”

“Copies of Bill’s book Reefs, Wrecks & Relics will be available for signing on the night. Don’t miss this fascinating look into Bermuda’s underwater heritage.”

The Harbourfront will open for dinner at 6.00pm, with drinks served at happy hour prices at 6.30pm and the lecture itself beginning at 7.30pm.

Tickets to the lecture cost $20 for members and $25 for non-members and can be purchased by calling 294-0204 or by visiting Oceans Gift Shop at BUEI.
