To assault a teaching is within itself, “an insult to the Island alone”. But have occurred at one of the most prominent schools the Island has to offer any aspiring individual is beyond comprehension :-(

    • Doubting Thomas says:

Berkeley WAS one of the island prominent school until someone decided it was best that it become a MEGA school. The pride is gone, and the saddest thing is that the alumni have moved on as well.

Teachers and parents cant do it all, it takes a village to raise a child. They need our support. Felllow Berkeley Alumni – lets come out to support, guide and mentor these kids! One hour each moth during lunch is all it might take!

    Despicable!!!!!!!

  3. mr.speaker says:

Any person or persons touch a bus driver teacher or any other person or persons should have the right to defend themselves. That 16 year old would have gotten a cut A**.

    • Ride says:

      @mr.speaker

And then the story would be about the teacher assaulting a student and losing their job. As adults we have to be smarter than our instinctive urges. Its called maturity and wisdom. With the limited information available it sounds as if the teacher did the correct thing.

They start hitting long BEFORE they get to high school. Don’t be surprised. If the teacher hit back then HE/SHE would say the TEACHER is wrong.

Real classy. Is this what Bermuda’s young ladies are like now days?

  5. Joey-Bag-O'Doughnuts says:

Long gone are the days where we we were so sacred to do something like that because Mr Randy Horton would cane us in front of the whole school or in his office and the parents were OK with that. Back then we learned from our mistakes that way.

Now, we’re not supposed to touch our own kids because, as the rationale goes it breeds violence. Look around you, when we disciplined our kids, Bermuda was a polite society and people respected one another because parents and teachers cared about teaching our kids right from wrong. Today we don’t dare touch our precious little kids and they have turned out to be terrible human beings.

    • Joey-Bag-O'Doughnuts says:

I meant scared on the first line. Oops!

    • Toodle-oo says:

And now they all keep trotting out the overtired cliche about the whole village raising their children when the village concept hasn’t existed for 50 years now.

      • Sandy Bottom says:

I don’t see people lining up to help me raise my kids.

        • Hmm says:

Those time are over. It is every many for himself now.

        • Joey-Bag-O'Doughnuts says:

Your kids are your responsibility and nobody else’s.
