Riders Hospitalized Following Two Bike Collision

[Updated] Emergency services responded to a collision involving two motorcycles at approximately 10pm tonight [May 1] on Blue Hole Hill in Hamilton Parish.

Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service EMTs arrived at the scene of the accident and cared for the two injured persons while police secured the area, restricting traffic from passing. An attending ambulance transported the injured persons to hospital for treatment.

Traffic flow to and from the east end was temporarily halted for approximately forty five minutes. After Police officers completed their investigation of the accident scene, fire service personnel cleared the road of debris and traffic flow resumed to normal. The extent of the injuries suffered are unknown, however we will update as able.

Update May 2: According to police, the two men injured in the collision suffered non-life threatening injuries, with one recovering in hospital while the other has been discharged. One of the men, the 47-year-old driver from Devonshire, has been arrested on suspicion of impaired driving in relation to the accident.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 10.00pm on Thursday, May 1, first responders were dispatched to a reported two vehicle collision on Blue Hole Hill in Hamilton parish.

“It appears that two motorcycles were being ridden along Blue Hole Hill when they collided near the entrance to the Swizzle Inn.

“Both injured riders, a 47-year-old Devonshire man and a 28-year-old St. George’s man, were apparently treated at the scene by EMTs before being taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, however their injuries are not believed to be serious. Traffic was diverted away from the area while collision investigators examined the scene.

“At last check, the Devonshire man was recovering in stable condition on a general ward while the St. George’s man had been treated and discharged. Both motorcycles were damaged and one of the motorcyclists involved was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

“Inquiries into this collision are ongoing and any witnesses that have not already come forward are encouraged to contact PC Kyle Outerbridge at the Southside Police Station on 293-2222.”

      Well not sure if this was the case here, but pulling out of Swizzle Inn is a tricky one. With the bush there, you cant see whats coming around the corner until you’re actually out in the road a bit.

      red bike turnin into swizzle goin west, other bike goin east, red hit east bike end of story…dats what happened.
