Video: Elliot Primary School’s “Happy” Readers
Elliot Primary School is the latest Bermuda institution to get “Happy” with the popular song by Pharrell Williams, with students and staff alike showing off their love for reading to the tune.
P1 Teacher Keitha Hodgson directed and produced the video, which includes shots of students from P1 Hodgson, P2 Shabazz, P3 Brangman, P4 Marshall, and P5 Eversley, along with staff members Ms. Francis, Ms. Nelson, Ms. Gilbert, Ms. Trott, Ms. Dyer, Mr. Johnson, Mrs. Welch, and Mrs. Taylor.
The video follows on the heels of the original Bermuda “Happy” video, with Dalton E. Tucker Primary School and Butterfield & Vallis subsequently getting in on the action, as well.
Williams’ song “Happy” has created a worldwide viral sensation, seeing people from a long list of nations and walks of life recording their own version of happiness to the track.
A compilation of those efforts was recently showcased on the Oprah Winfrey Show, with the heartfelt displays from Bermuda and around the globe bringing the singer to tears of joy.
Continuing their promotion of the importance of reading, Elliot Primary School went on to host the Men’s Reading Challenge last week [May 9], with fathers, uncles, grandfathers, and volunteers spending part of their day reading with the students.
