“Little JJ” Set To Release New Mixtape Soon

A local musician is continuing to build his way towards new opportunities in the music business by trying his hand at everything from instruments to entertainment media, making for a story of perseverance that has paid dividends for the young man.

Javoni Dowling Swan, known also by his stage name Little JJ, is a 17-year-old CedarBridge Academy student who has been involved with music from a very early age. His introduction to music came in the form of learning to play the drums, an endeavor that saw him play overseas while also leading to him picking up the trombone and piano.

By the age of 14, Javoni had taken an interest in rapping. That interest, nurtured by a family member, took the young man to new places in his musical interests, eventually leading him to become a member of The Chewstick Foundation. His involvement with Chewstick has lead to a variety of new opportunities, including the chance to perform on stage and at a series of open mic events.

Since joining Chewstick, Javoni has joined a music group called Red Army, featuring four rappers and three singers, and become part of a production team call SJS, where he has been exposed to recording music videos and documenting musical events via photography. His exposure has included being interviewed on Power 95 and having his songs played on the air.
