Photos & Video: Annual Rubber Duck Derby
Scores of people persevered through passing showers and turned out for the 2014 Rubber Duck Derby today [June 1]. Thousands of rubber ducks took to the waters off Ordnance Island in St. George’s, with the Corporate Duck Race kicking off the racing at 3pm, followed by the Youth, Pamper Me and Family Rubber Duck Races.
After the ducks were poured into the water, canoeists manipulated the waters to help push the bevy of rubber ducks across the waters to the finish line. After the ducks finished their ‘ocean crossing’, they were taken out of the water and the winners were recorded.
In addition to the Duck Derby, there were food stalls, a bouncy castle, games, as well as baked goods and live entertainment. The fun filled event serves to raise funds for charity, and is sponsored by BELCO.

Qwack…qwack…I luv my rubber ducky in the bath
As always it’s a pleasure in seeing so many attending the annual “Rubber-Duck Derby” in St. Georges. This has and will continue being a means of aiding charity thanks to all them that partake in organizing this event…May I mention though that when the “race” begins that they pour-out the plastic bags containing the “ducks” simultaneously and have them restricted from moving forward by stringing a really taut net / rope across the course,(Ordinance Island to the mainland) so that there is at least a semblance of a fair start (tongue in cheek)
