Results: YAO Cal Ripken Baseball Playoffs

The Y.A.O playoff games on Saturday [June 21] were exciting and close at the YAO Ball Park on Kindley Field. The Orioles, regular season Division winners topped the Phillies 8-6. The Orioles were led by Narsje Brockington on the mound, with 4 2/3 innings with 7 strikeouts.

The Orioles offense was led by Liam McCue, Brockington and Connor Somerville. The Phillies who were down by 6 runs late in the game, came back strong tying the game late. Led by James Ives, Finlay Turnbull and Kaelin Paynter. Liam McCue came in and shut down the Philly comeback.

In the afternoon game is was the Martin twin show on the mound, combining for a total of 17 strikeouts. Alex Bordage and Sam Resnik tried to match them with a combined total of 14 strikeouts. The game was tied going into extra innings. A seventh inning double by Somers Mello put the Yankees ahead for good. Nic martin closed it out in the bottom of the seventh.

This sets up the Championship game for today [June 22] at 3:30 with the Orioles playing the Yankees. There is a 1:00 consolation game with the Cubs playing the Phillies.
