The Award Fundraising Begins With Tag Day
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Bermuda [The Award] is launching an ongoing fundraising campaign, starting with a centrally located Tag Day on Friday, July 11. The Award’s patrons, Governor George Fergusson and Mrs. Fergusson, were the first to lend their support by making a donation to purchase the first set of tags from two current Award participants.
A spokesperson said, “Proceeds from this Tag Day and upcoming fundraising events hosted by The Award will directly impact the lives of hundreds of local young people by supporting the programme’s delivery and expansion initiatives.”

“This will offset travel expenses for current Gold Award participants traveling to St. Vincent and The Grenadines for their qualifying expedition, and provide funding for three Bermuda delegates to attend the International Award’s Emerging Leaders Forum this October in Seoul, South Korea.
“The Award is one of Bermuda’s leading youth development programmes for young people between the ages of 14 to 25 and our participants thrive as they work through challenging, but non-competitive, activities consisting of community service, personal skills, physical recreation, and adventurous journeys.
“All of these facets combined lead to the development of well-rounded global citizens who understand the importance of achieving their personal best, the value of working as a team, and the benefit of maintaining a sustainable sense of community and philanthropy as they mature into their adult lives.”
