Shadow Minister Scott Expresses Condolences

July 20, 2014

“Bermuda awoke this morning to the sobering news of the deaths of two men who passed away on our roads. On behalf of the Bermuda Progressive Labour Party, I would like to offer my deepest condolences to their friends and families,” said Shadow Minister of Transport Lawrence Scott.

Mr. Scott was speaking after two men died following two separate collisions early this morning, with a 32-year-old man killed in a collision in Hamilton parish, while a 23-year-old man died in a collision in Southampton.

“These deaths underscore a major health crisis in our country in the context of individuals whose lives are lost or dramatically changed as a result of road traffic accidents,” continued Mr. Scott.

“Together we must work to

  • A] Raise awareness
  • B] Work with partnering organizations such as CADA and the Road Safety Council, and educate all road users on the challenges on our roads.

“Again, my deepest and sincerest sympathies go out to the families. All of us have an obligation going forward to work on solutions to make our roads safer,” concluded Mr. Scott.
