32 Yr Old Man Killed In Hamilton Parish Collision

[Updated: Police identify victim as a 32 year old Pembroke man]

The police have confirmed that a male motorcyclist has died following a collision in Hamilton parish at around 2am this morning.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 1:55am on Sunday, July 20th first responders attended a reported serious single vehicle motorcycle collision on Harrington Sound Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Cedarberry Drive.

“It appears that a male motorcyclist collided with a roadside embankment and a stone pillar. He apparently succumbed to his injuries at the scene and was subsequently pronounced dead at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

“Efforts are currently underway to confirm the identity of the deceased. His passing marks the 7th road fatality for 2014.

“Traffic in the area was delayed for approximately three hours while collision investigators examined the scene.

“Inquiries are ongoing and any witnesses to this collision should contact the Roads Policing Unit on telephone number 247-1788.”

Update 9.17am: Police have now confirmed that a second person was killed in a separate collision approximately 2 hours later this morning. Details here.

Update 8.59pm: A police spokesperson said, “The male motorcyclist fatally injured in a reported serious single vehicle motorcycle collision along Harrington Sound Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Cedarberry Drive around 1:55am Sunday, July 20th has now been identified as a 32 year old Pembroke man.

“No further information regarding the deceased will be released until the next of kin have been notified. Inquiries are ongoing and any witnesses to this collision should contact the Roads Policing Unit on telephone number 247-1788.”

    This Island has lost two young men in different locations overnight. Please Lord give everyone on bikes (especially) traveling mercies on their way to destinations.
