Bermudian Students: BELCO Awards $165,000

Scholarships, educational awards and bursaries totaling $165,000 were presented to Bermudian students during a presentation ceremony at BELCO headquarters.

The scholarships are valued at $25,000, educational awards range from $2,500-$15,000, and Bermuda College bursaries are valued at $1,000 per year.

In addition, BELCO Math Awards of $750 each were presented to the high school senior who achieved the highest math score for the entire four years from each of the Island’s high schools.

Walter M. Higgins, BELCO President & Chief Executive Officer, said, “One of the highlights of our year is the presentation of financial awards to further the education of deserving Bermudian students.

“The individuals who receive BELCO awards have demonstrated that they are gifted, dedicated and ready to make a real contribution to the Bermuda community.We congratulate the 2014-15 award recipients, and wish them well both in their studies and as they pursue their careers.”

He added, “Of course, we always hope that they will put their skills to use at our company, but are equally happy to have them use their knowledge for the overall benefit of the country.”
