Carmel Butterfield Earns BOTA Bursary Award

Carmel Butterfield Bermuda October 2023Carmel Butterfield received the Dr Joanne Barbara Pratt Bursary Award from the Bermuda Occupational Therapy Association.

A spokesperson said, “In celebration of World Occupational Therapy Day, the Bermuda Occupational Therapy Association [BOTA] has awarded Carmel Butterfield with the Dr Joanne Barbara Pratt Bursary Award.

“This bursary is dedicated to the memory of Dr Joanne Barbara Pratt as she gave back to the profession of occupational therapy implementing initiatives for meaningful life to patients in Bermuda and making many contributions to books related to occupational therapy.

“The Bermuda Occupational Therapy Association is an associate member of The World Federation of Occupational Therapists [WFOT] since 1992. WFOT is the international voice of the occupational therapy profession which globally comprises of 101 national occupational therapy professional organisations.

“Our local association has joined other professional organisations internationally in the opportunity to heighten the visibility of the profession’s development work and to promote the activities of WFOT on World Occupational Therapy Day. The theme for this year is “Unity through Community”.

“Carmel is a post-graduate student of Brunel University London in the United Kingdom undertaking a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy. Carmel’s academic successes, life experiences and passion for the profession and the community set her apart from the other candidates.

“We are delighted to provide such driven recipients like Carmel with support to pursue their dreams. Carmel’s exceptional dedication aligns with this year’s World Occupational Therapy Day theme and the overall profession.
