Marsh And Guy Carpenter Donate $12,500

August 21, 2014

Marsh and Guy Carpenter revealed today [Aug 21] that they are donating more than $12,500 to several local nonprofit organisations.

As a way of making the firms’ annual charity drive more engaging, Marsh and Guy Carpenter this year asked employees for suggestions on where to provide funding.

Based on those responses, the financial donations will fund the development of, and support ongoing projects for, Outward Bound, the Sunshine League, and Caron Bermuda.

“We’ve planned our donations around our colleagues this year to support the charitable work they carry out in the community,” said David Ezekiel, Bermuda Chairman of Marsh & McLennan Companies and Chairman of Marsh’s Bermuda Charity Committee.”

“Each of these nonprofit organisations provides a positive and valued service in the community, and we are pleased to offer our support.”

A spokesperson said, “Outward Bound Bermuda provides outdoor educations and activities for individuals of all ages. The purpose of Outward Bound Bermuda is to help people discover and develop their potential to care for themselves, others, and the world around them through challenging experiences in unfamiliar settings.

“Having been around since 1919, the Sunshine League, through innovation and collaboration, provides holistic and success-driven programmes and services for Bermuda’s children and young people.

“The charity provides a transitional living centre primarily for young men between the ages of 18 and 25.

“Caron Bermuda is an alliance network between Caron and Fair Havens and was established to provide quality substance addiction treatment services in Bermuda. It delivers outpatient counselling, direct access to off-island quality residential treatment, plus on-island, non-residential continuing care programmes.

“Donations were also made to Cedarbridge Academy, allowing students with disabilities the opportunity to attend the annual field trip, and in support of the Bermuda Cancer and Health Relay for Life event.”
