31 Year Old Woman Charged With Murder

[Updated: Defendant has been granted bail of $30,000 with two like sureties.]

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Sept 12], a 31-year-old woman was charged the murder of 16-year-old Shijuan Mungal, which was alleged to have occurred in Warwick on 8th September 2014.

As the charges can only be heard in the Supreme Court, Kiahna Shaunee Trott Edwards did not have to enter a plea. The Courtroom’s public gallery had far more people present than it normally does, and the case extended some time, with bail arguments being made.

Update #1: The bail arguments are set to continue this afternoon.

Update #3: The Court proceedings are getting underway this afternoon, with a large amount of people in the Courtroom’s public gallery again.

Update #4: Kiahna Edwards has been granted bail of $30,000 with two sureties.

Magistrate Juan Wolfe has stipulated she surrender all travel documents, report to Hamilton Police Station daily, wear an electronic monitoring device, not attend at LF Wade Airport or any Bermuda port, abide by a curfew and not interfere with any witnesses.

During the extensive bail deliberations, the Court heard allegations connected with the case, including that that it began on the bus.
