Tropical Storm Dolly “Not A Threat” To Island
Tropical Storm Dolly, the fourth named storm of the 2014 Atlantic hurricane season, is “not a threat to Bermuda,” the Bermuda Weather Service [BWS] said today [Sept 2]. With the storm moving west in the Gulf of Mexico, its closest point to Bermuda has passed.
In the forecast discussion, BWS forecaster Michelle Pitcher said, “For the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico, the National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on recently upgraded Tropical Storm Dolly, located over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico.”
The U.S. National Hurricane Center [NHC] in Miami said the storm is carrying maximum sustained winds near 50 mph [80 km/h], with some weakening forecast during the next 48 hours.
