Video: Saltus To Host International Tournament
Saltus Grammar School is set to host a football tournament on October 16th–18th, with over 20 teams from overseas scheduled to attend, bringing hundreds of visitors to the island.
Games will be played at the the National Sports Centre field, the Bermuda Football Association field, Bermuda Athletic Association field and Saltus field.
The opening ceremony will be held at the NSC South Field at 5pm on Wednesday, October 15th. The ceremony will bring all of the competing teams together for an official opening by Governor George Fergusson, a welcome from the Head of Saltus, Claire Charlemagne and a performance by the Saltus School Concert Band. The games will start at 9.30am the next day, Thursday October 16th.
Saltus Grammar School is a member of the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools [CAIS], and along with giving Saltus international accreditation it also provides networking, professional development, leadership opportunities for students, and international sports tournaments. Saltus was selected to host next month’s CAIS football tournament after having competed in two tournaments.
The Organizer is the Director of Athletics at Saltus, Darrin Lewis, and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee is Jon Beard, Deputy Head at Saltus. The organizing committee also involves Lesley White, Teacher of PE at Saltus Manny Faria, Julie Boyd, Saltus Director of Finance and Operations, Richard Todd, Saltus Primary Department PE Teacher and Kelly Fisher, a Saltus parent, who is responsible for volunteers.
