Video: Bermuda Young Debaters Interviewed
Bermuda’s National Debate Team traveled to Olomouc, Czech Republic in order to compete in the Heart of Europe International Debate Competition this past summer, putting in a solid performance even as the team’s young members furthered their educational efforts.
A recently released video highlights an interview done with the team, with each member commenting on their favorite and least favorite motions, as well as their general experience in traveling to the Czech Republic.
Interview with Bermuda’s National Debate Team:
The team arrived in Olomouc on July 10, 2014, taking part in a total of 10 debates in the competition, which was open to all countries worldwide. Team Bermuda’s itinerary included three prepared debates, of which they won two.
The team’s members, students Megan Sutcliff, Ciara Burrow, and Ryan Robinson Perinchief, were complimented for their style in both speaking and clothing as the team wore Bermuda shorts to all of their debates, and Team Bermuda represented well at the Cultural Exchange Night, featuring displays from the competing teams’ countries.”
In the preliminary rounds, Team Bermuda won two of the three prepared debates they were scheduled for, eventually making it to the quarter-finals along with seven other teams before dropping a decision to a team from South Africa.
