Photos/Video: BVRC Hold Remembrance Service
This morning [Nov 11], people gathered in Victoria Park to hold a short Remembrance Service to honour the men of the Bermuda Volunteer Rifle Corps [BVRC] who served and died overseas in World War l [1914 -1918] and World War ll [1939 – 1945].
This service is held annually and is organised by the BVRC Association. As in the national ceremony at the Cenotaph on Front Street which is held later during the day, the Last Post and Reveille are blown by buglers and the traditional Two Minute Silence is observed.

On behalf of all who had / do benefit from their dedication and their representation (during both wars) I take this opportunity in thanking you all…
This will be my first year ever missing the ceremony and parade held in Hamilton, and I always look forward to taking my uncle who is a war veteran, I take my hat off to those who continue to see to it that our veterans who are becoming lesser by the year, get greater benefits from the services they rendered.
I hope someone thought enough to take my uncle in my absence as he always looked forward to this one day of the year, to reconnect with old war pals and stories of long ago.
I notice Mark Bean didnt go their either…this guy is downright disrespectful and should be removed!

This is not a national ceremony. It is a private ceremony put on by an Association made up of ex-members of the BVRC and the Bermuda Rifles and their descendants.
As such, the Governor, the Premier, the Leader of the Opposition, and the Mayor of Hamilton have never participated.
However, the Corporation of Hamilton always sends a wreath that is laid by a member of the CoH. This is appropriate because the Memorial is situated in a CoH park.
