First Redhead Duck In Bermuda Since 1987

Bermuda has a rare visitor in the form of a Redhead duck which is the first to reach the island since 1987. The Bermuda Audubon Society said the male duck pictured below was discovered by Dr. David Wingate at Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton.

According to the U.S. Patuxent Wildlife Research Center, “Redheads breed in western North America, from British Columbia, Mackenzie, and Manitoba to New Mexico, and winter in the southern U.S., Great Lakes, coastal New England, northern Mexico, and south to Guatemala, Cuba, Jamaica, and the Bahamas.”
