Tennis: Bermuda Pick Up A Win In Mexico
Bermuda picked up their first win in the second edition of the ITF/GSDF 12 & COTECC Team Masters Tennis Tournament going on in Mexico.
Ricky Mallory and Ben Jones took to the courts to represent Bermuda and they defeated Costa Rica 2-1.
Jones defeated Ignacio Mora 2-1, after losing he first set 6-1, Jones got himself together and went on to win the next 2 set 6-0, 6-1.
Coach Steve Bean said, “I was pleased that he was able to fight back the way he did.”
Mallory was next up and won in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 against Julian Lozano. Once he gained the lead at 4-3 in the first he never looked back. Costa Rica regained some respect taking the Doubles in 2 close sets, 7-5, 7-5.
