Throne Speech To Be Held In Senate Chambers

November 6, 2014

Tomorrow’s [Nov 6] Convening of the Legislature will be held inside — in the Senate Chambers — due to the anticipated inclement weather.

Speaker of the House Randolph Horton said, “Having consulted with the President of the Senate and His Excellency the Governor, I have advised the Premier and the Leader of the Opposition that the Convening of the Legislature and the Joint Session at which the Speech from the Throne is delivered will be held at the Senate Chambers in light of the forecasted inclement weather.”

The Government said that “as there is limited space in the Senate Chambers, seating will only be available for Members of Parliament, Members of the Senate, senior Government officials and invited dignitaries. Unfortunately, due to the logistics, there will be no seating available for the public. We apologise to the public for any inconvenience.”

The proceedings will be carried live on CITV as well as on the radio.

The Bermuda Weather Service has issued a Thunderstorm Advisory valid through Friday morning, and tomorrow’s forecast predicts “cloudy, rain, showers, some heavier, chance thunder, decreasing, winds south-southwesterly strong gusts to gale force.”
