2017 America’s Cup Promo Hits East Broadway
Less than 24 hours after the announcement that Bermuda will host the 2017 America’s Cup, junior and adult sailors — Olympic sailor Sara Lane Adderley — took to East Broadway this morning [Dec 3] to help spread the news that Bermuda will be the new home of the America’s Cup.
The actual Cup will arrive in Bermuda later today, and following a motorcade procession to Hamilton, Front Street will be closed off at 5.30pm, with a full scale celebration set to include the Bermuda Regiment Band, the Gombey’s, fire dancer performances, live music by Working Title, a 3-cannon salute and a fireworks display.
The Cup is scheduled to arrive at 2pm, and the America’s Cup motorcade route details are below:
- From L.F. Wade Intl Airport travel along North Shore Road.
- Middle Road once the convoy passes through Flatts.
- Middle Road to Montpelier Road.
- Montpelier Road onto Frog Lane.
- Frog Lane onto Palmetto Road and then left down Dock Hill.
- Dock Hill then left onto North Shore Road.
- North Shore Road and left onto Berkeley Road.
- Berkeley Road and left onto St. John’s Road.
- St. John’s Road and right onto Woodlands Road.
- Woodlands Road, left at roundabout onto Serpentine Rd and then onto Dundonald St.
- Dundonald St. and then right onto Court St.
- Along Court St. and then to the Cabinet Grounds.
